This year’s theme is Valuing Water
We at Haske Water Aid and Empowerment Foundation implemented World Water Day by reaching out to primary school pupils in schools across Nigeria.
We successfully mobilized over 80 young persons who volunteered online and offline to implement this outreach in primary schools in 12 states in Nigeria. We also donated liquid soaps, hand sanitisers, hand wash to the primary schools. Over 8,975 pupils are reached across Nigeria.
2. Iberese Borehole Project Report
We at Haske Water Aid and Empowerment Foundation implemented a borehole project in Ibereshe community in Ogun State. The community is made up of 4 villages and has a population of over 2000 people mostly women, children and the elderly. Their only source of water is seventy feet (70) deep well, which is also important for them to source for their livelihood and their business but struggles during the dry season when the well dries up.
We collaborated with Samaad Global farms and donated a generator and Water tank to the community. We conducted a series of surveys including a geophysical survey and we met with the village head and the entire community who were in turn happy to receive us into their homes and they contributed immensely to the success of the borehole project.
The new borehole benefits about 3000 persons.
(OBOROKE-IN-IHIMA COMMUNITY, KOGI STATE)
Sam Chukwudi is a corps member serving in Kogi State. We supported him by providing part of the funding to complete this water project in Oboroke Community. This borehole benefited over 300 persons.
(Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo state)
We also supported a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Micheal Osaretin, in giving hand pump boreholes to two communities in Akure.
The communities are Origere and Ajipowo communities and Ogbe High School, all in Oda town of Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo state. His success story also got featured in the BBC PIDGIN News. The water projects benefitted 500 persons.
