A little story about how our NGO began
In 2011, just after the post-election violence that claimed the lives of corps members serving in Bauchi State, Nigeria, Chibuzor Mirian Azubuike was posted there for her National Youth Service. She lived in a church where was an explosion and could have redeployed as a result of this, yet she was able to sink the first borehole in a community of about 6000 people. They named her Haske and immortalized her by bestowing upon her a chieftaincy title and renamed the spot of the bore to Angwam Mirian which means Mirian’s settlement.
When she went back home, she founded Haske Water Aid and Empowerment Foundation, an NGO that focuses on providing potable water for rural communities and empowers young people to get involved with community service.
